The Australian Collaboration is a consortium of peak national community organisations representing social, cultural and environmental constituencies and interests. The main activities of the Collaboration are to act as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information, to carry out research, to publish essays and books and to provide educational materials on important societal issues. The Collaboration is an independent network; it has no political links and does not support any political party. Its members are:

Democracy in Australia describes Australia’s political system, the characteristics of an open and democratic society and lists needed reforms and ways of strengthening Australian democratic practice.

Fact & Issue Sheets – A fair and sustainable Australia

This site contains over 40 peer-reviewed Fact and Issue Sheets covering a wide range of issues of significance to Australia. Themes include: characteristics of Australian society; climate change; water and biodiversity; culture; how government works; economics; fairness and well being; Indigenous Australians; and international priorities. The Fact and Issue Sheets have been written with many different audiences in mind including concerned and interested citizens, university students and senior secondary students and their teachers. All Sheets can be downloaded free.

Report - Success in Aboriginal Communitys

Described here is the Collaboration’s research project “Successful Strategies in Aboriginal Organisations”. The project investigated examples of successful Indigenous organisations across the nation to focus attention on their successes and to draw out the lessons that can be learnt from them. The project was carried out in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies.
