The Australian Collaboration is a consortium of peak national community organisations representing social, cultural and environmental constituencies and interests. The main activities of the Collaboration are to act as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information, to carry out research, to publish essays and books and to provide educational materials on key societal issues. The Collaboration is an independent network; it has no political links and does not support any political party. Its members are:

Democracy Watch

Report - Success in Aboriginal Communitys

Democracy Watch describes key aspects of democracy, current threats, persistent issues and ways of strengthening democracy in Australia. It contains a list of pre-election accountability and democratic commitments and subsequent actions of the Rudd Government.

The Collaboration has also recently published a long essay Democracy under Siege by David Yencken and Nicola Henry. The essay argues that Australia needs an urgent review of its democratic practices and public accountability measures.

Fact & Issue Sheets – A fair and sustainable Australia

This site contains over 30 peer-reviewed Fact and Issue Sheets covering a wide range of issues of significance to Australia. Themes include: characteristics of Australian society; climate change; water and biodiversity; culture; how government works; economics; fairness and well being; Indigenous Australians; and international priorities. The Fact and Issue Sheets have been written with many different audiences in mind including concerned and interested citizens, university students and senior secondary students and their teachers. All Sheets can be downloaded free.

Reference Sources lists key national and international web sources of statistical and other information related to twenty different themes, ranging from Armed Conflict and Peace, Crime, Economics, Environment, Migration, Population, Religion, Social Statistics to Youth Information.

Report - Success in Aboriginal Communitys

Described here is the Collaboration’s recently completed research project "Successful Strategies in Aboriginal Organisations". The project is investigating examples of successful Indigenous organisations across the nation to focus attention on their successes and to draw out the lessons that can be learnt from them.

Also briefly described is the Collaboration’s new research project on Civil Society.
